Prelude to Dusk by AmandaTurnage Prelude to Dusk by AmandaTurnage
Prints of this piece are for sale in my journal!

A very large commission that's been taking up my free time for the last few months. The largest and most detailed watercolor I have ever done. To give you an idea of the size, Eli's form is taller than my hand! I'm glad it's done and now with its new owner. :3 I wanted to scan it before he came and picked it up so that I could potentially make prints later. I had to scan it in 18 different pieces! It took me 3 hours on Photoshop to scan and merge it all together D:

Sorry for using the DA watermark. It's too detailed for my usual one to show up :(

I hope you all enjoy!

Wow - this is absolutely beautiful! So much detail, all of it beautifully rendered... you must have the patience of a saint! (And how on earth did you manage to scan it in all those little pieces and not sacrifice on quality? Whenever I try to scan larger pieces, I always end up with wicked cruel scanner burn...)

Aww thanks!
I guess I just have a nice scanner. It's not a document scanner but a photo scanner so I guess that makes a difference with quality? Not sure XD but it was the biggest pain in my ass! There were parts that were scanner burned but I just cut those off in PS and made sure that the scanner had gotten that portion on another scanned section. I think the photomerge option in Photoshop is the greatest thing ever invented on that program. It helped a LOT. It still took a few hours though -_-;;

I guess he was never that well known outside of the Nordic countries and that's why you don't get many hits.
His pictures of trolls was and still is very common in many peoples homes.

no wonder it took so much of your time. not sure how to say this and make sense, but when i look at this, there feels like theres a depth of field. the closer the object is, the more it stands out but not in the "lemme add more detail" fashion.

was it your idea or the person that comissioned you to put wings on every creature? first time seeing winged frogs and rabbits.
